New series 3 Tormach 1100 arrived today, now on the stand and in place. Tormach said the 1100 will fit through a 32 inch doorway. Well got mill to the doorway, took coffee break, cost of mill vs 32 inch doorway, I opted for new 42 inch doorway. My walls are 8 inch brick, besides the door swung the wrong way. It will take a few days to get the mill wired up and running. I tried to tell folks I just got married and am on my honeymoon, will be gone. Didnt work, they still want me to make parts. Normally new machine comes first, but need to make more money so I can get the ATC and well after talking to Tormach today I had a few questions. then got talking about the new lathe, sounds like I gotta have one of those too. I basicly got this machine 100% sight unseen, a month ago never even heard of it. It is more machine than I expected.

So you talked to tormach that they got ready with cnc lathe. Did they tell you about specs. When they will start selling cnc lathe?

No answer when. Not even a hint, May be 3 or 5 HP. even the BTC may be more or less, will fit through a 32 inch door, and may weight up to 2000 lbs. I asked for the size of the machine, becouse where I place my mill the lathe might fit in that place better, I just got the 32 inches. Thats all I got. I think when I get my 4th axis Im just going to drive to pick it so I can maybe peek at it.

Ouch, cutting out a new doorway from 8" brick? That'll be fun. (I wonder if they meant a 32" doorway with the jamb removed. :-))

Thanks, You are right was jamb. I was prepared though if I did have to cut the wall. Got a 14" DeWalt dimond blade, will cut through anything.

Get up a little speed. Heck, a friend was looking at the new mill and the tooling and asked whats the baseball bat for? Oh, it helps keeps finger prints off the machine.
