    G-Rex G100

question about the new G-Rex G100

Since it uses USB or Ethernet communication with a host PC to execute motion control and I/O commands. there no need for a bob.

Can it be configured to run 2 drive for x axis ie gantry..putting a second x-motor onto a large machine 5x 9 table ie like a MechMate is straightforward mechanically, the secound motor would be a slave....but was wonder
if there enough i/o to still have 6-axis motion controller. for a addon lathe in this setup?

cus dont think you get 5 drivers working off one parallel port.
With the G-Rex G100 who may driver can you have?

The G100 has step and direction for 6 axis, or 6 motors. Whether you can slave it would depend on the software you're using to control it.

I was planing on using mach3, but was wondering by slaving it, if i would still have io on the G100 for it... and if I would loose a axis because of the slave drive using a dir step input.

Are you asking if you still can have the BOB on the parallel port also?, or are you asking if you will still have general purpose I/O which it has many of, plus the 6 axis in and out.

The G100 has 6 step/direction outputs. If you slave 2 axis together in mach3, then you will use 2 of the 6 outputs. You can connect 6 motor drives to a G100. If you slave 2, you have 4 left.

    more slaves?

So to get more drives u need another g100?, any other cost effective way to to slave motors but still have 6 axis down the road?

You could try to drive the 2 X motors off of one set of step/dir outputs, but I don't know if the G100 is up to it. I don't think Mach3 can use 2 G100's at the same time.

If you use the G203 as the stepper driver, you could easily add a 7404 chip to drive two steppers using the same direction and step pulses from the G100. The G203 only requires 2.5mA, so a standard TTL chip can be used. If you use the G201 or the G202 you'll need to provide 15mA of current, but you could interface the necessary hardware with a minimum of cost.
