How hard do you think it would be to put the 770's spindle motor on the 1100 so that I can have twice the RPM's?

It's not the motor that's the problem it's the spindle itself. The 1100 spindle is not good for 10,000 rpm. However I think the 770 spindle is to short to fit in the 1100 head.
The simplest solution would be to buy the complete 770 head, including spindle and motor. Look at the last item at the bottom of this page:

I only see a few problems with that idea. The size of the head and bolt patterns are different and I want to continue to use my power draw bar and eventually the tool changer.

I guess I could have the 1100's spindle cartridge rebuilt for the higher rpms.
Then I would only have to adapt the Motor and drive.
I don't think I could do any of this without the support of Tormach.
