    Linuxcnc Mesa 5I25 + 7i76 5v Enable signal

    Hi i
am aware of the thread from 2012
i have now in 2016 similar problem we have 2 Granite VDE and for the Z Axis an Delta Drive and servo. The Delta works perfect-
Now my issue i also need an 5v + for enable but when i measure pin 1 to 6 i should get 5v i read 0,22V
no matter what i do i don't get 5v my workaround would be the Enable always on 5+v
so my question is is there an easy way around or do i have to do an PCB with optocoupler which does get 24V from Out signal to convert to the Enable signal ? I expect that almost everyone has this isseo ?
    any help would be nice

If you dont use all 5 step/dir axis, you can use a spare step or dir signal for a 5V enable.

If the 5V enable input is an OPTO input, you can also probably use a 24V signal with a
series resistor (check with the drive manufacturer)

Hi PCW_Mesa wow that is fast thank you i appreciate it

i thought about this so i will use the Step+ from the 6th axis for enable and when the System get powered on the servo is enabled.
But i thought i could use the 5pv Pin 6 for instance why does it show 0,22v ?

Reading the Manual https://granitedevices.com/assets/fi...160_manual.pdf i interpret that everything else than Enable and Fail is Opto coupled - (page 5 ) But i am not sure chapter 7.4 page 13 says optocoupler
pin 10 and 11 is used for IN3 = Enable out 2 = error ? I am afraid to grill the device but maybe it should work out well ?
    best reg thomas

if 5VP shows .22V that probably means either you have no 5V to the 7I76
or perhaps you have a wiring short somewhere

(The 5VP pin is common with all 5VP pins on TB3 and all are supplied via a PTC device so a short on any pin would give the symptoms you see)
