    Rated BLAC servo RPM

I have a new baldor brushless ac servo, bsm80b, and the rated max rpm on it is 4000. I want to use it as a spindle motor and was wondering if these motors can be driven past their rated rpm and how far. I am looking to reach 6000 if it is safe for the motor. Any suggestions??

Given a blank sheet of paper, you probably can drive it past its rated rpm. Since you need a driver to commutate the motor, you probably will not be able to do it. The other thing you need is more voltage than it's rated for because just like a brushed pm motor, the speed depends on voltage
