    Fail to generate toolpath!

    Hi,

I have a problem, for the piece in attachment I don't know how to generate te tool path for the depression in te middle. I have tried pretty much every tricks I know but i dont seem to be able to generate a successful toolpath. So if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

    Hawk

P.S. the file is a compressed Solidworks 2009 file

Here is a thought , maybe because your cpl is at the bottom of your part when you define the LEVEL height it has to be .32 (which is the z value of the top of Your part) or else a tool path will not be generated at a zero value

If you have trouble opening the file switch your cls to student mode

    Hello Hawk,
A couple of things you should check:
    1. How are you locating the part?
      a. Move your part so that the CPL is in the correct location.
    2. Did you create a containment boundary using Edge Loop Feature, or Geometry From Edges?
      a. If you use Geometry From Edges ensure that the geometry is flat in the XY plane. You do not want containment geometry that changes in Z unless it is an Edge Loop Feature.
    3. What size tool are you using?
    4. What instructions are you using? Are you trying Roughing Operation?

Check that you are doing something close to this and you should be able to get toolpath.
