    Lightbulb Home built cnc lathe

I am looking at converting a Smithy 9-20 lathe to cnc. I would like to use a pc and stepper motors. I am looking for all the information that you guys are willing to tell me. I would like to know how big a motor to use? What to use for drivers and ECT... I would like to build the drivers myself or I am looking for someone out there that is willing to build me some. I am looking for quotes. Please give me all the information that you can so I can make the right decisions on this project.

YOur question is very elementary and needs to be a bit more detailed. Look here for starters:

Once you decide which is best for your application/pocket book, members can/will point you in a better, more specific direction.

You won't be able to find someone to build you drives cheaper than Gecko G202's. And you won't be able to build a better drive yourself. www.geckodrive.com
