Smile Help me building a mini (desktop sized), beginner CNC router

    Hi. I need Your help.
I have pretty good knowledge on analog electronics, but absolutely nothing on programmable IC`s. And i want to build a CNC router.
    I have these parts:

-A PC with parallel/serial ports and Mach3 software
-Many CD/DVD drives (stepper motors that move laser head)
    -A burning laser diode
-And i can get the electronic components that i'll need.

Basically i need Mach3 to control these stepper motors (i think i can assemble the mechanical part)

So is there some simple circuits? I want it be 2 axis. X and Y. and there should be a controller for laser for turning it on or off. Or it can be 3 axis. X, Y and Z (i can put a pen or marker on Z axis) Thanks

You should look into the Lasersaur cutter - Lasersaur by Nortd Labs

Also, try posting your questions in the Laser Cutter area of the forums. You will get more replies and help there.

    Good luck on your build.

Are you sure those are stepper motors? CD/DVD drives typically use DC brush motors for moving the laser head.
