    m50 battery fail problems....Help

my m50 on our vmc40 had the battery go down, we found the problem and replaced it,but no then the unit booted up in japanies.
its taken many hours to hand load back in all the peramiters...just in case some one needs to know , set lang in base directory to 1 to get english.
but still the system does not work.
It looks like the plc has not picked up its ladder code or canned function codes
from its eprom or the flash drive.
I presume the holding capacitor (which was still at 4.9v when i tested it) is there to allow the lithium cell to be replaced without major memory loss?
can any one tell me how to get the thing to read its programes.

I have two machines (identical) is there a way of uploading from one and downloading to the other?

If your two machines are identical not only in travel / tool changes /spindles
and controller and servo drives and motors, you could concievably copy
the parameters, ladder to the other unit.

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE BEFORE TRYING!!

The control can be configured to do I/O over RS232. Over the serial connection
you can backup and restore relevant systems files.

If you download the M50 Operation manual (BND-B2084), the I/O and backup
    procedures will be detailed within.
