I bought a going Morbedelli Auther as it was a lot cheaper than building a new one.
It runs using Yaskawa ac servo drives with very impressive traverse speeds.
My idea was to retro fit it with Deskcnc, as this is what I have and I am used to.
So far I have it up and running with the kind help from users on the forum.
All my experience is around steppers I'm new to servos.
My question is how do I get those same traverse speeds, it runs like it's got stepper motors, is Mach3 better or is this as good as it gets?
I was surprised at the different steps per millimetre on the 3 axis X was about 250 Y 900 Z 1100 the differences between encoders and ball screws.
