How do you remove (or reinstal) the head on a Sieg X2?

Let's say, hypothetically, that I was desperate for just 1/4" more clearance. Let's further say, still hypothetically, that I got stupid and removed the stop to attempt to raise the head "just a little more".

If I were to do that, and subesquently find that I had raised the head past the end of the track, how would you suggest I go about getting the head back on track, so to speak?

    Question

    GimpyPaw,

Did you lose some of the balls from the ballscrew?

First I should ask if it was converted to CNC and if it was equipped with ballscrews?

If you loosen the gib slightly you should be able to turn the downfeed, it should catch and start moving the head down.

You may need to disconnect the bolt that passes through the counterbalance spring arm, that will allow gravity to help.

Not converted yet, so no ball screws, it's more of a screwball problem.

I'll try loosening up the gib then. Thanks.
