    Printer/Scanner Hardware Hack

    Hi all.

I joined this forum to see if anyone knows how a drive a printer or scanner motor directly.
Kind of like this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhDOJzZ_juU&feature=channel_page"]YouTube - Printer Hack with Joystick (scary version)[/ame] but from a computer.

The idea is to use this to build an automated disc selector device where the carriage moves along and then a solenoid or motor pops up the required CD from its holding slot.

I`ve spent some time searching the internet, and the youtube clip is the closest thing to what I want to do.

    Thanks for your help.

    First - Welcome aboard!
Second - Congradulations -- the computer driven disk selector - sounds like an updated JUKEBOX -- is that the plan??
When you find a printer and start the build - please share your progress!
    Cheers - Jim
Experience is the BEST Teacher. Is that why it usually arrives in a shower of sparks, flash of light, loud bang, a cloud of smoke, AND -- a BILL to pay? You usually get it -- just after you need it.
