    ball nuts for acme screws?

I know this is probably a really dumb question and I try to find the dumbest ones to ask but if you had a acme screw with like a 8 thread count and small ball bearings could this be made? We all know how much ball screws and nuts are so maybe this could be a poor mans ball screws. Thanks for listening and any
reply' s that might happen. Graham

It would be a lot more trouble than its worth and you wont nessesarly save money. Rolled ballscrew threads can be had for nearly the same cost as precision acme thread. Acme thread has a different thread profile which really isn't ideal for have balls running through there tracks. Im no expert but I would just forget about it.
