Hello again.

Hello again.

If the turret pops out, and doesn't rotate, probably the unclamp switch. If it rotates then goes back but times out, it could be the clamp switch. You really need to check the I/O signals and see whats not right. If the machine sat for a long time, my guess is it's a clamp switch not popping out with the turret. A little WD40 works well. Those early machines do eat Bestac Boards, which is a small relay card. They are pretty cheap.
Well,
the turret pops out. The error comes up as soon as you let go of the index button.
The only switches I see on the turret are on the tail. One axial and several radial. They are are proximity switches.
What are the addresses for the I/O's?
Check dgn21.2 for turret clamp fin. After turret pops out, dgn21.2 should turn to "0". If remains as "1", turret rotation is not possible. Proximity switch label as SQ14 or LS14 may be bad. Good Luck!
Check dgn48.4 for turret index start output which turn on bestact relay KR15(inside electrical cabinet) & solenoid valve YV81(mounted above index oil motor). Either KR17 & YV91 or KR18 & YV90 should turn on for rotational output.
dbstream,
On the bestact board, which ones are KR15, 17, and 18?
I have no electrical prints.
dgn48.4 does change.
KR15 is sixth "led" counting from the top. See attached
You need to check the physical output of the KR15. The led on the board is just the control voltage to turn on the relay. It's the relays that fail themselves. All timer descriptions are in the back of the ladder diagram.
Well I got it.
The timers where set to 00000000.
Neet, huh?
Thanks again for the help fellas! I appreciated it.

Hello, a new member here. We just started to have a problem with one of our Mori Seiki that's been in use for over 9 years now. We did take it out of service for a short time when we got new replacement machines, but had to put it back in service when one of our Okuma machines went down. It was running fine for quite a while, but it is just now showing the message EX 0357 Turret Index Time out. The program starts ok, does the rough passes, but when it indexes the new tool for the final pass, the message appears. Our lead operator also found these alarm messages in the history:
749 S-spindle LSI Error
500 Overtravel +Z (2 times)
400 Servo Alarm - X axis overload
414 Servo Alarm - Z axis detected Error
751 Spindle - 1 Alarm Detect (3 times)
414 Servo Alarm - X axis detect
750 Spindle Serial Link Error (3 times)
501 Over Travel -X
The serial link error may have been caused when I was checking the cables in the back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.
With a 0t, I'm guessing well over ten years old. Kinda hard to help without knowing the model number.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't get a chance to talk to our daytime tech to find out what they did, but they were able to get it working. I believe that there is a proximity switch inside that tells the machine when the turret is back in position, but I was unable to remove the cover last night. Anyways, to make a long story short, we just have to make this machine limp along for less than a month when we will be installing a brand new Mazak CNC machine, which is taking the place of our old Okuma machines. Once again, thanks.
I'm sorry, never fun going backwards.
