Hi everyone I am new to this forum stuff, so please bear with me.
I have built a MDF CNC rolling chassis from the jgro plans that I have found on the net. I am now deciding on what to drive it with. I have various small stepper motors that I have collected over the years. Not sure if they will be big enough yet but am sure I will need a larger one for the Z axis. I have Baldor BSM63A 150AA servo motor but no controller. I am wondering if there is an easy way to drive this motor with home built electronics. I am an electrician with a long term interest in electronics and have started programming PIC micros using PIC Sim Basic. I think the drive is basically a small 3 phase motor with an internal resolver. I understand what an encoder is but have no knowledge of resolvers. I am hoping I could use the PIC to drive this servo and use it for the Z axis, or is it not worth looking at.
