Adding an M function on a Fanuc 11M

    Hi all,

I have a Shoda router with a Fanuc 11m control. I have been tasked to add an M function that will trigger a Miller Mig Welder. I have dug around in the cabinet, but would love some advice, and if you guys have wiring diagrams, photo's etc...that would be awsome.

Unfortunately you have to modify the ladder (PMC).
Unless you have an M function that is already programmed and not being used.

look in the back of you electrical prints for a spare m code option or if you find one you will need to look for the m code answer also so the control will know tha t the m code is completed

    Thanks Al,
Do you know of any specific instructions or how to's for this process? My web searching has not been turning up much.

Traditionally Fanuc supplied a FAPT portable 'suitcase' computer that had the ability to write/edit the ladder and burn the eproms, the 10/11 commonly has a eprom cassette on one of the system cards, when the system boots up, it takes the ladder off the cassette and loads into memory before running the ladder.
I don't know if Fanuc has any PC based program for the 10/11.
Unfortunately they did not follow Mitsubishi's lead where you could edit and program on line.
When the part program sees a M,S,T code etc, it is passed over to the ladder for processing, as mentioned, if the M code needs confirmation, then the program halts until the process issues a FIN(ish) signal back to the CNC side.
