    Ball Screw Jacks and Encoded Gear Motors

    Just wondering if anyone has considered using "Ball Screw Jacks" and encoded DC gear Motors? I have seen this setup on computer controlled loadframes similar to Instron but not CNC milling applications.

    I used A Nook Ball-screw jack on an older Avey mill/drill for the Z axis, this replaced the original hydraulic Z feed, worked out well.
