    RS485 for POWERMAX 65

    Hi

I'm looking for a powermax65 and trying to decide if I should include the RS485 or not. There is any oficial suport yet?
I do a lot of cutting with robots and extra info and remote configuration capability would be nice.
Or, there is a way to add this port later?

    Thanks

    Fred

The port can be added later. Currently you can plug and play with a Hypertherm cnc control (EdgePro, MicroEdgePro, EdgeTi) through the serial port. There also are a few cnc equipment manufacturers that are developing interfaces for the serial link. The serial link allows for remote control of air presure, amperage and diagnostic codes. The port can be added to the machine in kit form at any time.

Thanks! I make my own DTHC for robotic applications, so where can I find the details about the protocol and how to make it work with my system.
Also, give my congrats to whoever had the idea of the mini torch, God knows how many times I thought about cutting my machine torch in half to see if I could make it fit.

Send me a direct email and I'll return the white paper with the protocol for the serial interface.

I ordered a Powermax 85 today, but before I did, I called Hypertherm technical support to find out how to order the RS485 option. The guy I talked to told me that it is included in the mechanized versions that have the CPC port.

That information is incorrect. If you want a Hypertherm Powermax65 or 85 with the CPC port and the serial port....you need to specify both. There are mechanized torch versions of these units that come with the cPC port, but no serial port.

If you know what lead length you are looking for and specify with CPC port and serial port I can help you find the correct part number.

I ordered the mechanized 85 with 25' lead (#087115) from Hypermax on Friday. Yes, please Jim, post the number for the unit including the RS485 port and I'll try to change the order on Monday.
    Thanks, Bob

    Fred,

There probably is not a single part number that gets you exactly what you want....as there are so many different options. This is the closest:

087138.....which includes a Powermax85 CSA power supply with CPC and Serial ports (087105), and a 25' machine torch (087093), and a 123896 CPC interface cable, a 223209 work lead, 25' with ring terminal, no clamp), a 223239 serial cable, 25', and a 228565 consumable parts kit.

I'm not sure we have ever sold one configured as above....so it would have to be ordered, fortunately we are shipping same day of the order in most cases.
