Anybody installed turcite on the ways of a small benchtop mill or lathe?

I've noticed that at least some of the tormach machines have turcite coated ways.

I was wondering if anyone has modified a benchtop machine such as a g0704 in this way? If anyone has, is there a noticeable improvement in the smoothness of operation of your machine? Do you think it's a worthwhile modification to make?

    Thanks.

I think most people if they are going to go through the effort of machining the castings are more likely to just machine them for linear rails. That said i'm sure the turcite would be a cheaper option and would be great for reducing friction.

    Pro and cons to everything,

You'll need to machine the thickness of your turcite off every carriage face you want to put it on, then scrape it to let it in.

And it still won't run as frictionless as linear rails.

I've scraped/re scraped/replaced turcite on probably hundreds of machines now, and in my opinion it's probably not worth it on a bench top mill.

Cheers for that, fellas. Very useful advice.

I was thinking about doing this, but am now having second thoughts.
