if your in a rush to buy parts, your not taking the time to plan the job. Slow down and do your homework first and then buy after all your not going to have the thing built next week anyway

I can't realy help you as I'm a machinist not a route person. I'm sure if you keep asking you will receive all the info you need in the next few day. from people on this site. There is alway the rush of starting a project. But just be sure you have as many of your question answer before you buy anything. Proper planning at this stage will be the quailty in your machine when built

Have you contacted Solsylva and ask what they recommend? Imo, they would be the ones to ask what motors and drives to use.

I think Gerry's advice is good. I rushed out and started buying stuff. I now have enough parts to build two or three machines but I still haven't got my first one finished. I got some real good buys but if they just sit in the closet, how good of buys were they really? Some stuff I ended up reselling at a loss because it really didn't meet my needs. You know the "old saw" measure twice cut once. Well, it also applies to planning and buying parts. Good luck.

Hi!
The system will work for the big table but the larger steppers
will not improve performance very much as they have a low top-end
torque. If you are using better leadscrews that have 10 or fewer
threads per inch, then the 425 oz in steppers should offer
improved performance over the 269 oz in steppers that were used
in the prototypes with the 18 thread per inch leadscrews.
Even the 269 oz in steppers are not driven to their potential
with the Xylotex drives so the larger steppers also are unlikely
to be driven to their potential either.
So, if you use better leadscrews the larger steppers should
give you better results and would probably be worth the extra
money.

I read David's reply and it makes sense. The other advantage to the larger steppers is if you later wanted to spend the money and buy gecko controllers to run them, the geckos could probably drive them to their full potential.

Why cannot Zylotex Drivers run these 425 Oz In motors to their full potential.
Is the driver not capable of delivering the needed current or have I missed something else. Just curious

Those motors I think are rated at 2.8amps. The Xylotex can only supply 2.5a, so you'll lose about 10% of the holding torque. Another limiting factor is the Xylotex Max useable voltage of around 30V, which will limit top speed. But this is an issue with most motors, and may not be an issue, depending on how fast you need to go.

ok some update on my building i just got my router is a hitachy 2.5 varible speed i order the stepes setup from xylotex the 405oz the berings abecs 5 the pulis and belts and i on my way to lowes to get the wood and the rest o the materials today i will get some progres wile i am wating for the parts i will pos some pics later
