    Adaptive Ruf questions

    Evaluating v25, mainly for adaptive ruf feature.

    When using the Zig only option, which forces the tool to reposition while down in the cut, these positioning moves are done at the cutting feed rate and not accelerated like in the Hi Speed Pocket of v23.

    Also, there seems to no way to define the amount of lift for these moves.

    Correct...or am I missing something?

    Once BC gets this feature fine tuned, I can see it being beneficial to have a toggle for 2D or 3D depth.
    Awful lot of recomputing with different Depth, TOJ-BOJ, Flatlands, XYZ Allowance, etc. just to get the 2D path down where I want it.

    Yes, you are correct, I get the same, when it ramps up to move across the area and ramps back down into the material it does it at feed rate, it would be nice as you say if it did the move at some sort of rapid feed like the old HSP.

    And no, I can`t find any way of setting that moves height, I am all Metric and it defaults to 0.5mm (About 19.7 thou), it just seems to ramps up in a helical arc to the 0.5mm and then does the same back down.

    I didn`t use the Flatlands, xyz allowance etc for my simple 2D test and it was pretty quick and easy, not I have to say quite as good as the old HSP in V23 but more than acceptable for folks who never got the HSP IMHO.

    The bi-directional (Zig - Zag) toolpathing with the Adaptive turn on is very good, I do like that

    Like you I forsee this Advanced Adaptive roughing being a lot of folks favourite "tool"

    Get it on the "wish list" asap

    Rapid Retract for Large Gap

    There is an option in the ADV feature to make the re position move rapids instead of feeds. It's in the link section. Please keep in mind solid lines are displayed feed moves, where dotted lines are displayed rapid moves.

    When I did some testing, it doesn't look like it's hook up properly. I have to test it again...

    That`s the first thing I checked, I fully expected that to make a difference but it didn`t, no change of speed in the posted code.

    That's what I found as well. Like I said I don't think it's hooked up properly. I will post it to the development team right away.

    Also the micro lifts seems to be defaulted to make the software easier to use.

    Nothing wrong with that since it's really meant as a roughing feature.
    But I also used it as a flat floor finisher for aluminum parts and got a much smoother finish when the lift was set to zero.

    Ok so it looks like the rapid retract is the wrong solution. In the HSP pocketing tool paths it did not rapid back, the software offered a max feed option and that value was used for the reposition.

    The other thing I noticed is there is not feed rate change in the program and if you want to post with arc movements make sure it's checked on the posting tab.

    I usually set that to 200,so it acts like a rapid,pretty much.Still yearning for a HSP,or an equivalent, or better.

    This obviously will be a little tougher on tooling than HSP.
