    Mach3 optimization

One of the optimizations for Mach3 say that your computer should be set to "Standard PC".
How many people actually check this and to what level of performance benifets does having your PC set to Standard give you?
If my PC is set to ACPI what are the negative effects?

    Thanks for the help.

On my PC, if Windows is installed as ACPI, it won't run the motors smoothly. When installed as Standard PC, it works perfect. This is an old 1Gh Dell.

The general rule is do NOT do any optimizations unless you're having a problem. Not doing them correctly can do more harm then good.

But if you're doing a clean Windows install, doing it as Standard PC will eliminate a possible problem.

Thanks for the reply Gerry, if you remember a while ago I was having problems on my router getting the Velocity and Accel over 50 and 10 respectively. I just basically gave up but I found the optimization document and noticed my PC was set to APCI. I just rebuilt it and set it to Standard and I will have to do some testing to see if the rebuild helped. Do you thinking having it set to APCI would limit my Vel/Accel?
On the old build I had optimized my services. I made sure the new build was set the same as the old one for services.
