    110v 1.5kw VFD & Spindle Producing a Shock

First time setting this up and noticed that once I got through with the settings and the spindle spun up, the whole machine, an aluminum 6040, was passing current and I got buzzed. I found a thread on here of someone with the same condition who found that the ground was a dead-end in the connector, so he grounded the case. So I cracked mine open and it too was a dead-end. So I grounded the case as well. However, now I trip my GFCI outlet as soon as it turns on.

Any ideas how to solve? I've got a picture attached of my wiring.

You need to fix the 4th pin on the connector, like the photo with the right size wire, what you have done is not correct, you also need to use a shielded cable between the VFD and the Spindle and the shield to be Grounded at both ends

Also use your wire colors correctly White & Green can never be used as a power supply wire

Sorry guys, yes - I didn't wire those up according to colors. This is just a few feet of home depot 16-4 to test until I get the shielded delivered but it's funny, I didn't plan on this being publicized so I didn't even give it a thought!

    So, color code off spindle:
    1: Green
    2: White
    3: Black
    4: Red

Ahh, thanks. It looks like I'll continue the test when the shielded cable comes in then.
