Stepper noise/vibration video- looking for input

Hey group, so... I have looked around on threads for a while. If there is a thread out there that answers my question I am sorry I haven't found it yet and I am asking a redundant question. If you have the link that that thread I would be greatly appreciative.

    I have a 3 axis cnc router.
    Y-axis steppers are slaved.
Hobby CNC pro board (set to 1/2 microstep)
Mach3- demo version (just setting up the machine now, I will be buying in the next week or two i am sure)
    200 oz steppers on the Y axis (2x) and Z axis (1x)
    300 oz on the X axis (1x)
CNC router parts R&P on the X and Y axis
1/2-10 2 start acme with Dumpster cnc antibacklash for z axis

Attached is a video of the difference I am experiencing with my steppers. Z axis stepper is running/sounding just fine. X and Y are vibrating/making noise that just seems outside of normal from what all I have seen on internet.

If you could, take a listen and let me know what you think.

I don't have the settings from Mach3 on me at the moment, but i can get and repost tonight.

    I truely appreciate any help.

    Lane,

This could be a few different things:

    1) It could be a parallel port communication / timing issue, and I have seen multiple instances of this being the cause of "rough" motion. You can try increasing the step pulse under config->motor tuning in Mach, or even going to Sherline mode under config->ports and pins.

    2) Again assuming you are using the parallel port, I have seen motion go from horrible to smooth by changing a windows install from ACPI to standard mode. This is a bit of a PITA, but it has been the magic bullet in the past.

    3) You may be having some mid-band resonance issues with your motor drivers -- there's quite a bit less mechanical reduction (even with the timing belts in the R&P units) on the R&P units. Hopefully not, as this is harder to solve, but could be the case.

    Best regards,
