Started my QT8 lathe this morning, homed it went to start the spindle (manually) to warm in up and I have received Alarm 015 (2, 9476) System malfunction. Been around Mazaks for close to 20 years and this a first.

I have no LEDS lit on the spindle drive, but on the AMP Status the LED's are blinking F1 then 36, F2 then 36. The spindle drive is a Mitsubishi Freqrol FR-SH. The AMP Status is A6 (no blinking) before turning on the control.

The only problem this machine has ever had in 8 years is in the morning (startup) it E-stops because the hydraulic chuck actuator hasn't gone through it's movement. After it sits for 5 minutes, turn it off/on and everything works fine.
I do not know if this could be part of the current problem? Either way, the machine can't run and I'm not making money.

Please help or advise if you can.

There is a problem with the spindle drive. Either the power supply on it is weak or you have a shorted transistor in the base unit which will cause the power supply to shut off and protect itself.

Action Check the amplifier for:
*Improper connector connections
*Improper power connections
