Fanuc i series drip feed from Memory card

    Hi all,

I recently bought a Doosan DNM 500 with a Fanuc i series controller. I need to drip feed a large 3D milling program from my memory card and haven't had much luck.

I have set up a few older style fanuc's with RS232 drip feeding but have yet to connect this machine to our computer, probably going to try the ethernet connection.

Anyway, I was wondering if there are any specific parameters to set up to drip feed from the memory card. I can copy smaller programs to the hard drive without issues, just can't get it to run on tape mode as I would on an older machine.

Any tips would be really helpful, just need to get this part off the machine asap.

    Thanks, Jimmy

You need the program on the memory card as a txt file rather than a nd file so you just wanna delete .nc from the end of the file name. You wanna m198 p0001 for example to call the program.

The i/o channel needs to be set at 4 in the parameters.

    Hope this helps

The earlier versions of the 18ia did not allow running a program of the pcmcia card, or memory above 512k.
We can instruct you on increasing the memory and upgrading the system software.

We have 6 dnms at work and they all allow you to do as I have instructed above.

Yes, I/O channel 4 in parameters. On my machine I turn the mode dial on the control over to "remote" then hit the program soft key, "DNC-CD" then it lists the files on the memory card with an associated number for each file. type in the associated number (eg: 0004) then select "DNC-ST" and it should have it primed to go, cycle start.

Ah ha,all sorted. I was trying to run in EZ Guide mode, once I got out of that, I put it in to tape mode, and hit (oprt) then the page I wanted came up. Also had to delete the O number and .txt from the program header and it worked a treat. Job is finished and I'm happy, thanks everyone!
