Can you get precision gearheads for the size 34 servos? I would want about a 4-1 ratio. I think these would be popular items .

You mean like harmonic drive? I imagine it would be very expensive to properly design and make them, espesialy with no backlash... IMHO
if you google "nema 34 harmonic drive", quite few choices show up, but not cheap i imagine.
Also try searching for:
nema 34 frame harmonic drive
and also search for planetary gearhead...

Just ordered a 27 to 1. It should be here this week.
A little over $1,000.00 each one though.
Smitty
Smitty, If space is a problem, gearheads often are a good solution. If you have room, other less expensive methods are available. I've used them before and as often as not, I had problems with them. Remember, they have small gears with tiny teeth and itsy-bitsy bearing parts in them. Good quality is required. As I said, some did work. Think of the high quality planetary gears running in well lubricated automatic transmissions. Just don't try to tow a trailer full of bricks with a compact car with an auto tranny.
DZASTR
You should check Ebay, they often have new planetaries in the box for two or three hundred dollars. A lot of 34 size go off cheap, often new. Size 23 are more in demand, but even at that I have some new ones I'd let go for a few hundred as well, even zero backlash harmonic drives. Takes some looking but there are some good deals out there from a number of surplus dealers.
MCG has some for around $500 each

But Keling may be able to import cheaper ones from china.
Thank you all. I am working on it. I will post on my wensite when I get them
