I'm designing a cnc router, and at this moment I am choosing the stepper motors. I'm looking for a motor such as a Nema 23, with 15 kgf.cm torque.

Looking around, I've seen that the voltages of most of the stepper motors are under 6V.

Why is that? I was thinking of using 12V or 24V as the power supply voltage, because I thought it was a common option.

Does anyone know whether it is possible to find motors with higher voltage values?

With a 'chopper' style of stepper motor driver, you can operate the motors with a much higher voltage than the rated 'nameplate' voltage of the motor.

So you do not need to look for a motor that is rated for 12V or 24V. Rather, the driver will limit the current drawn by the motor to keep it within the proper value even if you run a 6-volt motor at 24 volts (for example).

For maximum performance from a stepper, the power supply voltage should be 32 times the square root of the motors inductance (in mH).
So, for a motor with 3mH inductance, you'd want to use a 55V power supply.

YouU want to get motors with the lowest inductance you can find, as they'll give the best performance.
