Clarification on using PWM with L297/L298

    Hello colleagues,

I need some clarification viz :
I am using a 8051 based derivative of Philips.I need to drive two steppers simultaneously with minimal code overhead.
I am planning to use a PWM output , since I have 4 PWM outputs possible.Unfortunately they all have the same time base.
So is it possible to use a single time base and clock the 2 L297s with different duty cycles and thus generate different speeds independantly?
In other words does the L297 work only with a 50% duty or is it immaterial as long as it gets square pulses ?
    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks for reading

    Thomas

the clk input on the l297 works of the rising edge of the pulse. As long as you meet the the minimum pulse width, setup and hold times it doesn't care about duty cycle.
