Noob question on best tool path

I have a drawing that is simply a 3 inch line.

when I machine this line into my material I would like it to cut some defined depth on each side of the line and then cut some other defined depth (deeper) directly over the line..

I know you see it the step down V cut...
    HTML Code:
    |_ _|
       |_|
    I'm using RhinoCad 4 and RhinoCam 1..

Can I even get this tool path from a single line?

    Thanks

Sure. Just use Profiling for the first cuts - you will need 2 profile operations, one for each side of the line - then use the Engraving op to cut on the line. For the Profiling operations, in VisualMill/RhinoCAM, you will need to change the line direction between the two ops in order to cut on both sides - a bit of a pain... Otherwise, make two lines, one on top of the other, and use one each for each side of the cut. You could even see what happens when you join the two lines into a closed curve... --ch
