    Econo Probe

Has anyone had much experience getting the econoprobe from wildhorse-innovations.com to work with the PCNC 1100? It would be so sweet, to have a $100 probe option. Thanks in advance.

Several folks have from what I have read. Main issue is the logic of the probe. The latest PCNCconfig utility allows you to remedy that. http://www.tormach.com/document_libr...CConfig4.2.zip

Choose "Probe makes" or "Probe breaks" connection.

Doesn't sound too complicated. It's not like one needs a Karnaugh map to decode the logic of a simple probe. Perhaps Mach3 uses Dodgsonian logic where Jabberwocky actualy make sense.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

    "Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
    And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
    He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
    Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

I had the Wildhorse econo probe for years... it works good. I recently upgraded to a used Marposs purchased off eBay.

On the econo probe... all you need to do is wired it to pin 4 and 5 of the aux port in front of the Tormach panel. The econo probe is NC (normally closed) so you will need to change the Tormach's Mach3 default from NO to NC and it'll work. If the LED on the probe does not light up... reverse the wires on 4 and 5 and it will work.

I just connected mine today. It was hard to solder the small wires to the tiny connections (I only have a small gas solder, a little miracle I actually succeed) but other than no problem, it seems to work fine. I have not tested for accuracy yet but it is easy to set up. Look page 134 of the 770 manual for the info on what pin to use, along with http://www.wildhorse-innovations.com...-Alignment.pdf
I am an electronic idiot and it would have taken me 10min of works with a small electrical solder. You also need one of this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/5-pcs-5-Pin-DIN-...5#ht_500wt_922

I got the five pieces set and I dont regret it since I burned the first one! If you have an old type mouse you don't need anymore, the connector might be the same.
