I ask this question with apprehension because I've probably over looked the obvious but I just can't figure it out. I found Supermans 4th axis check list and believe I followed it correctly.
Please look at the attached picture and notice that there is no toolpaths on the left side of the part. It can't be seen in the picture but a drill and tap operation should be on the left side but is actually being run on the right side of the part again. When I post as it is, the A axis rotates as expected by the picture with no A rotation to the left side.
If I change each T & C plane to be the same as it's WCS. Then the tool paths shows on the left side and the verify function looks good, but the post has only A0 rotation commands (as expected).
I hope I've given enough info for someone to be able to help.
A 4th axis only giving A output means the machine only rotates around the X-axis
- it cannot do any machining in the Right or left sides - if you post, it should error saying "angles may be wrong"
Caution - the standard BACK & BOTTOM views generated in Mcam will not be correct, you have to rotate those views 180° around Z ( the view must look correct as seen by the tool in relation to the rotary's action
Thanks Superman, I appreciate the help to me and so many others.
No probs.... But not sure for how much longer
My Co has gone bust, got a DCT on Thursday ( Don't Come Tomorrow ) along with 1/2 the people in the shop. Other 1/2 will go in 1-2 weeks time after finishing the remaining jobs on the floor
- back into the job market, & getting to old for this sort of crap
( may end up being a career change. May even have to move away from Mcam, who knows, may even hang up the old cape altogether )
so, at the moment, just looking around for the next opportunity, I guess )
