    Tool Geometry / Offset

I'm new to running a 240MS and am not understanding how the geometry offset library works. It has a 12 station turret with an offset registry of 32. If I MDI a T0808 and use the Q setter, all the information will go into the 08 offset. If I MDI a T0816 and use the Q setter, all the information goes into the 08 offset. (I've tried MDI T1608 and get an error message!) (The old cnc lathe had a 32 tool tool library with a 12 position turret that I could use tool 24 in position 6.) Can I run the 240 like this or not? Thanks!

By default, the offset is selected according to the tool number when you lower the Q-setter. This is to avoid the possibility of setting the wrong offset when you touch off. I believe that parameter 5005 bit 5 selects whether or not this happens. Your machine is probably set to 1. If you set this bit to 0, it won't automatically select the offset when you lower the Q-setter.

If I'm understanding u correctly, u may call for ex t01 then any offset u like 0-12 so t0101 or t0106 or t0111. Not the offset then tool. As far as usingthe qsetter goes I believe u can manually change offset number with the arrow keys after registry appears . So when u pull qsetter down with tool 5 in position t5 registry will be highlighted on t5 x just scroll down with arrow keys to pick alternate offset number then touch off qsetter.
    Good luck
