Hi all, I'm brand spanking new here and came across this incredible forum whilst looking for a solution for my problem. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.
I just bought a HF 7x12 mini lathe for my department so that we can make some custom parts and turn down fittings. It also doesn't hurt that I've always been interested in learning.
The problem is that once the lathe was unboxed and slightly de-gooped, I read over the directions and plugged her in and set all the switches and dials to the exact postion the directions stated. Basically they ask that :
the speed dial be turned down bast "0" turned off. (it does click to the off position).
Turn power switch on. (It does light up.)
Set direction from neutral to forward.
Slowly advance dial to desired speed.
When I do this the chuck spins very quickly in about 3 or 4 bursts or pulses then it stops.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
The gearing seems to be OK but I can't seem to figure out why this is happening unless there is a bad electronic board.
Any help would be most welcome and appreciated.
Thanks,
G
