IMHO, they are the same machine with different descriptions.

So a cnc turning centre can be called as a cnc lathe?? is there any difference in the operations they perform?
Typically the "difference" between a CNC turning center and a CNC lathe is that the turning center has a full enclosure, multi-tool turret and automatic operations of all movement (travels, tailstock, chuck, bar feeder, etc) whereas the CNC lathe can be an engine-lathe type with toolpost and manual control on tailstock and chuck.
Not really much of a difference, but there is some.
I have Haas SL10s and HL1s and I call them either a CNC lathe or a CNC Turning Center. I also have Haas TL1s and a TL2 and I call them CNC lathe but I would never refer to them as a turning center.
It is a bit like making a distinction between a milling machine and a vertical machining center, most times the same machine can be called either name.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
oh fine.. thank you :-)
