I have a z-axis ball screw that is about 9" long. On either end is a bearing mounted in a metal block with two bolts holes.

I made a plate for it to mount to, but the threaded bolts holes in the plate are about 1/16" too close, lengthwise. I can screw in the bolts into the plate but they go in kinda tight.
The point to all this is that it is probably compressing the two ends of the ball-screw assembly, scrunching it up. It still seems to turn OK.
I figure that, rather than make a new bottom plate I might just drill out the Ball-screw assembly holes on the bottom-end and use nuts on them. That would relieve the pressure (scrunching) but still hold it on good.
Question:
So, my bearing-mounts for my ball-screw assembly are 1/16" too close together which is squishing the screw. Wont scrunching up a screw hurt the end bearings?
