What is everyone's opinion on what is the best general pupose coolant for CNC machining? Mostly machining aluminum, CRS/HRS, 01, and D2.

Moparmatty,
I had this recomended to me about 5 years ago. I love it. No bacteria, ever. Mixes very very easy, and has a decent smell. Wont knock you out of the shop. Almost all of our machining is on alum.

I am a huge fan of trim sol I get mine from j&l industrial supply no bacteria no nasty smell provides good capibalities for both turning and machining centers. Works well for tapping. I run alum. 1018 steel 4140, 8620 forgings, a-2 and d-2 coolant holds up well for all the best I have ever used!!
I'm voting for Blaser Swisslube. You pretty much can't make this stuff stink, it actually smells pretty good. If for some reason you need to pull it out of a tank, because it miracuously starts to stink because somebody peed in it or is spitting tobacco, you stick it in a barrel for a couple months, suck the sludge off of the top and its pretty much good as new, we have two barrels out back, from over a year ago, that we've used in between new barrels, good as new, color is a little off, but abasolutely no smell. It does mix a little too well with tramp oils, so you need to skim it in the mornings after its settled and before it starts mixing.
Thanks guys.
As most people, I have tried many, Castrol Superedge 6759 is my vote.
Inexpensive "blue milk" type, never stinks but will thin out slightly as it evaps over a few months. Generally tanks need topped up long before thinning is an issue.
