    Before I do anything stupid...

    I ahve the HobbyCNC kit and the recomended 30V 10A transformer. Its all assembled but I haven't plugged it in.
    On the transformer I taped off the center tap and put the two other leads on the rectifier like the instructions say to. My question is, won't I get 60V by using the two outside leads rather than one outer lead and the center tap? Is this right?

    No. Why not disconnect the two leads going into the driver board? Don't let them short. Measure @ 44VDC across them. BE CAREFUL!!! The cap will need 20 minutes to discharge before hooking back up to the driver board. In fact wait until the voltage drops below 2VDC before hooking back up.
