    Sprocket Design

I need to do a drawing of a sprocket for a customer and I'm having a "moment" here (as I haven't had to draw one of these in a long time). Its a sprocket for a bike (without a derailleur). the pitch is 1/2", the roller diameter is 5/16" and the pitch diameter is around 12". I've done a couple of drawings but neither one is correct (based on laying it next to my sons bike). any help would be great.

    Thanks

I ran into this problem a couple years ago. Here's a guide to tell you how to draw them:

Les. Your drawing for the 76 teeth shows the 75 tooth dimensions.

Thanks for all of the info, I actually did a version 3 last night and it looks pretty close to what Les did, but i'm going to download that sprocket program and see what results i get from that.

    Thanks again to all

Hey Pat, let me know what the number of teeth, pressure angle, pitch, outide diameter, root diameter, root radius, and tooth corner radius and I can send you a cad drawing.

I downloaded it something is not right, no compound radii. OD too large, seating curve too small. Sprockets are quite forgiving it will probably go round!

    Cheers, Les.
