    lathe worm gear cutting

have any of you guys ever put together a macro that would allow you to cut a worm gear on the od of a shaft. i want to feed in with a Y/Z move and go to a Z/C move for the length of the shaft and then feed off in another Y/Z move. i would like to put variables in for lead, number of starts, depth of cut, number of cuts, and start diameter.

if you have any ideas, or know of a source for this type of program drop me a line.

Can you tilt the axis of the milling cutter spindle? You will have to compensate for the lead angle of the worm helix somehow. You can see I ASSumed this is a live tooling application.
