Hello all,
I'm trying to come up with a way to hook up a Berger-Lahr 5-phase drive to a laptop. Most of the documentation I understand but I'm not sure about the electronics between the LPT and the Signal interface 1 connection plug. I have four of these drives and at work there is about 2 dozen steppers that need to be tested ( condition unknown) These are large steppers...rated at 320 NM. They also have encoders that I need to check somehow but I figured I would work on the drive part first. I'm building a test stand to mount the motor so it can be ran under a load and also check the encoder output with a seperate encoder mounted by belt to the motor shaft somehow....haven't got there yet. I know the answer is in the pdf's attached but I'm not sure of the componet values or what else is needed.
Can anyone help me on this or point me in the right direction?

I assume you are wanting to go from a LPT port to suitable drivers at 24vdc level for input to the drive? Are you wanting to mock up an interface or looking for something of the shelf?
It looks like all you would need is a couple of 2N7000 and a couple of 4.7k resistors and a 24vdc power supply. The ready input you would take to ground.

If I could find something that wasn't too expensive I would probaly go that route. If not i could solder up some componets on a perfboard. If i bought something then it might come with some sorta software that would let me automate the task of testing them. or i could poke and peek some dos commands....haven't done that in years...not sure if i still remember Basic or not. Also a bought unit might have some opto-isolation so I wouldn't fry my laptop. Do they make a unit such as that?
