What do you mean by barebones? What parts do you want exactly? Which mill, SX3 or X4?

AFAIK, the X4 uses the same column as the Sieg X3/SX3. They are available from Grizzly for $98.75

I do have one made with linear rails mounted to a 4 inch square allum. tubbung . But I would prefer to machine it from cast iron . The allum has to much flex for me . Got a quote for a solid piece of cast iron that would finish at 4x4x 32 delivered cost under 200.00 dollars but weights 178 pounds . A casting would be a little easier to move around with my bad back....I work in a tool and die shop with big cnc equipment so machining it is not a problem. Thanks

I have made a cnc mill that has 13 x 7 12 travles . It uses thk linear rails and ball scews . The machine is buildt on a 14 x 24 x 2.5 inch thick webed castiron surface plate my weak link is the z collum . It is made from allumium tubbing with a steel base there are 4 ..3/8 bolts that run from the steel base through the tubbing and attach at the top of the tubbing . My idea was to fill the tubbing with cement attach the tubbing top tighten the nuts to the top plate and
it would be solid. I have not filled the tubbing yet and am experincing vibratiation .I dont know if the cement would eliminate the problem . So I am looking for a z axis collum that I could modify . Would you sell one from the x-5 ? The x-3 looks a little small . Thanks for your time .Thank you.
