Rotary table movement no longer smooth...

Have a Grizzly rotary table that gets light use (maybe once or twice a week for a really small operation) that is a couple years old. Others usually use it and when I used it recently it had lots of slop in the worm so moved it so it was tighter. Then when rotating it initially moved smoothly but then started binding up. I find it hard to believe it has gotten chips or other crud into the gears but perhaps possible. What should I be checking, looking at or doing? Is this going to need to be opened up and regreased occasionally?

The worm shaft is most likely binding on the ''thrust bearing'', if you can call it that. Mine was just a wave washer. I put real thrust bearing in mine, but just greasing things may be a big help in your case.
