need help rapids going very slow

I have a 1992 conquest 42 it seems to go to the slowest rapid speed when you go to edit you program then go to run it.

If you turn machine off then back on it runs fine at 100 percent on the rapids
but then if you edit the program and go to run it it goes slow only on the rapids.
Any help would be great I just got this runnung last week.
    thanks mike

Should only be on power up, as long as you did that should be ok. Sounds like your missing a prep code after doing your edit. Are you starting at the beginning of the program after? Is the control seeing the G0 command? Check your Modal screen and see whats been left on. If it works after power cycling, leeds me to believe the program is turning something on and not turning it off.

good thinking I will right down the codes and then check when I edit.

but I am starting at the beginning of the program and it is still doing this.

when you are in run mode and hit the check and see what codes active they all seem to be the same but when I hit edit and dont even change anything
then go to run it rapids slow and I ran 5 pcs first and they all worked fine then edit and now it goes slow

Check diagnostics page # 305.0 (that is the farthest bit to the right)
Without this set to 1, you will lose rapid traverse after EDIT

I'm willing to bet that procedure sets a 1 at diagnostics #305.0 --

I don't know how much you know about how the bits are numbered, so why not start from the beginning.
The bits are named 0 through 7 for a total of eight bits.
0 is the name of the farthest bit to the right.
The next bit to the left (second bit) is bit 1.
The one to the left of that (third bit) is bit 2.
    So on.
So the bits are numbered thus: 76543210.
This makes up a diagnostic "word".
In your diagnostics pages, go to the location # 305
You will see eight characters, either ones or zeros.
The character that corresponds to bit 0 should be set to 1.
This will enable rapid traverse after edit.
I don't know what you have in the other bits, but don't change those.
    Only change bit 0.
It should look like this: XXXXXXX1
The X's represent the other bits, that you should not change.
So if for example your location 305 now says 10010000 you should change it to read 10010001. If, say, it reads 10100100 you should change it to 10100101, etc. Only change the farthest right bit.
    regards,
    newc

This is a Hardinge thing on the older machines. Whenever you use the Edit function the machine automatically rapids at the slowest until it reads an M30. Easy to get around. When done editing, go to the M30 before leaving EDIT mode. Hit Cycle Start. Run program from beginning or anywhere else, and it will now rapid at 100%.

I know this is a little late, but if you go into edit with the program protect key off on this machine you will see a light next to the slow release button down by the x and z traverse buttons towards the bottom right of the control panel. when you go into auto or any other mode just press that slow release button and it will unlock it without having to read a M30 or powering the machine etc. If you keep the program protect key on you can go to edit without it triggering that slow release mode, but you can only view and skip thru the program that way.

Sorry I didn't see this before

btw if your buttons on the controls are numbers I believe that slow release button is #68
