jpeg convert to dxf...can I do this?

My CNC router is run with Kcam3 software. I use QuickCAD 8 to design with and save it as a dxf file. I'm wanting to do some inlay work and have some jpeg files that I want to incorporate in my CAD designs. Can I do this and how do I get it to convert to dxf so Kcam3 will run?

Thanks

If you're planning on doing inlays, I doubt you'll get useable results from a raster to vecotr conversion. Your best bet would be to import the .jpg into the CAD program, and trace it.

I'm interested

in learning more about your process of doing this. Sunday night I drew an Oak leaf in Autocad using splines and when I used sheetcam to process it I ended up with over 8000 lines of gcode. Not only that but my machine frozeup at line N160 when I tried to run it .
Ger you copied a picture I put on CNCZone for a baluster and that worked great how did you do that?

I think Eric did that, not me. Splines will always be broken up into lots of short, straight segments.
