    How about the encoder cable.

I am really just throwing it out there but on one of my VMC's i kept getting disconnect but it was pulsecoder disconnect. I replaced the cable and all is well.

    Turn the scale off?
One that not listed is the backplane but don't think that would cause it.
Does it happen when you move or just at power up?

no I didn't turn-off the scale I just replaced the cable of the scale and still I'm encountering the same problem...this alarm shows up anytime...moving or not, alarm shows up...I experienced powering on the machine and homing it's axes' and left it for a couple of hours due to other activities and when I came back the alarm already shown up.
