    Colored phenolic? Thin corian sheets?

I have a customer who would like some model parts cut out of a colored sheet material. Bright, primary colors - red, blue, yellow, etc. The thicknesses are 1/8" and 1/4".

We've been using baltic birch and then painting it, but would like to try some solid materials. The material should be reasonably stiff, stable and not brittle, but doesn't need any great strength. Ease of machining is a plus. Reasonably priced.

Perhaps a colored acrylic or polycarbonate would work.
Phenolic (micarta) might be an option, but tough on tools.
Corian machines nicely and glues pretty easily.
HDPE, UHMW not so great in terms of gluing.
Colored MDF not strong enough, maybe tempered hard board?

Mix and matching is a possibility, so doesn't have to be the same for both thicknesses. Anybody have a source for these materials in thin (colorful) sheets, or could you suggest an alternative?

    Thanks very much,

    Steve

A really great website that has Hot (bright red) and Graphic Blue is http://solidsurface.com . There really aren't many manufacturers that make bright solid colors. I hope this helps!
