When assembling sets of bearings to roll on black pipe is there some ideal distance to spearate the bearings based upon the diameter of the tubes?
It seems to me that further apart is better then closer together but I thought that there might be some actual scientific method for determining the proper distance for optimal performance.

Yes, the distance fron center of angle iron (Alumn) to the center of bearing matters, because moving them will increase or decrease the distance from the side of the gantry to the actual pipe, and if you move it to much you may not be able to adjust it out with the adjustment blocks.

I have redone the plans in solid works and built a Larger machine, and also increased the pipe sizes to compensate for this, and inturn this has changed the gantry measurements, bearing spacer sizes and so on, any small change will have to be taken into consideration as to what all it will effect.

Umm, yeah I figured as much. Can anyone tell me how to determine this optimal spacing. I am not using the angle iron method or the standard black pipe size so I can't simply copy the dimensions in the plan.
