    Dead spindle on X4

    Hello All

The spindle on my X4 has stopped working. Yesterday it was fine but when I switched the machine on today the LCD screen was dead and the spindle no longer responds to manual or Mach3 input. All stepper motors still work perfectly.

I opened the back and checked the fuses. They are all fine. It seems that there is no power in the main board. (i.e. the big one with all the heat sinks on the back) There's a small green LED on this board labelled LED5 which is not glowing.

I had previously checked and tightened all electrical connections so I doubt there are any loose wires anywhere. It's not that obvious to me there the power to this board comes from. It seems to come is as AC, via the EMI filter at the top.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this and try and narrow the options down so I can identify where the problem lies?

    Many thanks

    Andy RB

    Blown fuse

    Hi Syil

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I took out the fuses and tested them with a multi-meter. One fuse looked good but was actually blown. I have replaced it and the spindle is now working again.

I do not know what cause the fuse to blow. The cause of the problem may still remain. Time will tell.

    Regards

    Andy RB

What is the size of the spindle fuse?

I blew the spindle fuse on my X4 but there are no markings on the fuse. What size of fuse do I need?
