    Servo tuning

    Hello,
I have a 1986 PUMA 8HC-3A, I know an old machine but the price was right. I understand you get what you pay for. I have been loking on the web for any information on tuning of the Servos for the Ball Screws but so far no luck. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
    Thanks

What sort of tuning are you trying to do ?

most of the 'tuning' is motor specific parametrization.

    HI,
Well that was all part of the question that I did not know how to ask. It was suggested to me that it might be worth wile to get it done.
I have since been in contact with a gentleman from CNC Machine services in Washington State and he was very helpful over the phone. He asked many questions and based on my answeres recomended rechecking the backlash, I found that I had 0.0007" in the Z axis and 0.00018" in Radius on the X axis. Made some adjustments to PARAMETER 1851 and the Z now is at 0.0003" and the X is at 0.00008" tried a test cut and the machine is now cutting round. I guess I do not need to visit the Servo tuning isue at this time.
    Thanks
    BMLW
